NAMI Ohio, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, helps individuals and families affected by serious brain disorders. Created in 1982, NAMI Ohio was formed by a group of concerned family members. NAMI Ohio is working to make a better tomorrow for people with mental illness.

OhioMHAS is a cabinet level state agency that is responsible for providing leadership in mental health and addiction research, prevention, treatment and recovery. The agency maintains six regional psychiatric hospitals, the statewide pharmacy, and several prison recovery services in addition to its Columbus headquarters. OhioMHAS works closely with local and other statewide entities to provide care and resources to all Ohioans

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation.

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) has developed a series of MRSS Tools for Providers, the objective of which includes establishing individual and family safety; maintaining youth in the least restrictive setting; diverting children from hospital emergency rooms and inpatient hospitalization; keeping young people safe at home, in the community, and in school whenever possible, and assisting youth and families in learning new skills and building supports to reduce the frequency and intensity of future crises.
